An introduction to volunteering at Heron Lake, focussing on adaptive waterskiing & wakeboarding
These sessions focus on the volunteer roles involved in the delivery of adaptive waterskiing and wakeboarding at Heron Lake. Whether you're new and looking for a complete introduction, aiming to gain new practical skills, or wanting to build on your existing experience, this session is for you.
Training is free. We will provide a light lunch.
The intro session includes:
- Disability awareness
- Adaptive equipment
- Participant assessment
Practical training then introduces you to the skills required for the following roles:
- Boat observer (based on the boat alongside the driver for safety)
- Assistant instructor (to assist the lead instructor with equipment set-up and support adaptive skiers in the water, )
- General volunteer (jetty management, assisting skiers, carrying equipment etc)
NB: the training day is an introduction to all of the above. Ongoing training is provided when you start volunteering with us.
