An introduction to volunteering at Heron Lake, focussing on adaptive waterskiing & wakeboarding

These sessions focus on the volunteer roles involved in the delivery of adaptive waterskiing and wakeboarding at Heron Lake. Whether you're new and looking for a complete introduction, aiming to gain new practical skills, or wanting to build on your existing experience, this session is for you.

Training is free. We will provide a light lunch.

The intro session includes:

  • Disability awareness
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Participant assessment

Practical training then introduces you to the skills required for the following roles:

  • Boat observer (based on the boat alongside the driver for safety)
  • Assistant instructor (to assist the lead instructor with equipment set-up and support adaptive skiers in the water, )
  • General volunteer (jetty management, assisting skiers, carrying equipment etc)

NB: the training day is an introduction to all of the above. Ongoing training is provided when you start volunteering with us.
